Darcy McDiarmid

Darcy Tara McDiarmid is a nature artist born in Mayo, Yukon. She is Han and Northern Tutchone from the crow clan of the Tr’ondek Hwech’in and Na-cho Nyak Dun First Nations in Northern Yukon. She paints in a very bold and expressive style using primarily colorful fluid acrylics and ink. Her art is guided by heritage, culture, dreams and legends from long ago.

In 2018 Darcy joined the Northern Cultural Expressions Society in the Beginners Carving Program; she is expanding her creativity working with the advanced instructors Calvin Morberg and Duran Henry working with traditional form-line designs, paintings, and woodcarvings. Working at N.C.E.S Darcy has had many opportunities going to cultural events at the Adaka Festival in Whitehorse, Yukon, and traveling to Dawson for the Moosehide Gathering. Her passions for first nations art has brought her to the program and it has increased her skills and shown her a different perspective on traditional art, working with the artists and being part of N.C.E.S. Darcy has a unique perspective and she puts a lot of thought in her designs and is willing to learn new skills to broaden her creativity.
